What to do When it is
New Year 2021 and COVID-19
is Still Here?

One morning, I woke up and found out that life would be very different for the following weeks. After those weeks, I found out that that would be life for the coming months. Later, those months turned into one year. Some of my friends confided that their life switched back and forth from in-person meetings to video calls within days. A woman of my acquaintance, who lives in Singapore, shared with me that her husband had to close their business in Bangkok because they could no longer travel there. In 2020, many were roaming around the streets with the knowledge that something invisible would strike them at any moment. This invisible thing is COVID-19.

At the start of the new year of 2021, one specific post that struck me the most and was shared to me was that which expressed sorrow at the entire 2020. However, I’m glad that many were ringing in the new year with joy, despite the limitations. I am bringing that post up because that is the first thing that we should try to avoid when coming into the new year of 2021. At the start of the new year, we should try our best to focus on the positive things, which occurred in 2020 amidst COVID-19.

1. Focus on 2020's positives

2. Care for the community through our COVID-19 life habits

Life changed so much in 2020 whereby leaving home entailed wearing face masks. In addition to that, regular hand sanitization was imperative. This is why I have a bottle of hand sanitizer with me in my bag at all times. Although these type of acts are extra efforts, it is worth the effort. The reason is that we have the assurance that these acts have helped in stopping the spread of COVID-19.

3. Cherish each moment of 2021

Surrounded by my books, I am grateful that they are even around for my consumption during my studies. The books that are available to me are something that I appreciate. With what I’ve learned, I can make articles and videos for you.

Although this new year 2021 has started and the COVID-19 outbreak is still around, I am sure that we can find something to be happy about amidst our circumstances. Happy New Year!
